Henshall's net worth is estimated at $700,000 as of 2020. The 53-year-old has earned an impressive sum of money from her decades' long musical theatre career.
At the age of 25, Henshall landed the role of Fantine in Les Misérables. Her first starring role came a year later in the trans-Atlantic transfer of the Broadway production Crazy for You, receiving her first Olivier Award nomination for playing as Polly.
In 1995, Ruthie starred as Amalia Balash in the London revival of She Loves Me, for which she ultimately won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She received her third Olivier nomination for Best Actress in a Musical after appearing as Roxie Hart in the revival of Chicago.

The 53-year-old later got engaged to Scottish actor and novelist, John Gordon Sinclair, with whom she attended Prince Edward's wedding to Sophie Rhys Jones in 1999.
