Barbara McQuade is mostly renowned among the people as a former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. Former attorney Barbara McQuade began her professional career in 1998 as an assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan. However, after she left as an assistant, in 2003-2009 she joined as a professor of law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

Later on January 4, 2010, McQuade was appointed by Barrack Obama as U.S. Attorney. Furthermore, after taking office in January 2010 McQuade organized the office differently for the first time for more than 35 years to arrange attorney resources with the preferences of the district: national security, violent crime, public corruption, civil rights and financial fraud, health care, and environment crimes.

Additionally, the most noteworthy achievements during McQuade's office period includes the conviction of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on public corruption charges.

 Moreover, she also handled the conviction and life sentence of al-Qaeda bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab who was behind the bomb plot to sabotage an airplane in flight from the Netherlands to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport on 2009 Christmas Day. 

Similarly, she was the judge for the conviction for bank fraud charges of a late Michigan Supreme Court Judge. Also, she gives a verdict to the conviction of the former employees for stealing trade from Detroit automakers.
