She was discovered by an agent while playing the main character in a production of "The Bad Seed" at a local Los Angeles theater. It didn't take long for her to land work in commercials following which she was cast in a guest-starring role in the television science fiction hit Buck Rogers in the 25th Century in 1979.
The 60-year-old then appeared in a recurring role in the short-lived comedy series, When the Whistle Blows. Her breakthrough role came when she was cast as Tina Gray in the first installment of the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
